Soon the Sun
Constantly spinning on space’s finger
At a million miles an hour
But the sand buries my toes
Like a silk sheet on a breezy night.
Seen and unseen it travels
A fiery globe of nuclear energy, fusing atoms
Gifting light and radiation,
Your roots digging into a desert of ash.
When you lay and turn to dust,
Melded into seedless soil,
Baking life you’ll never see
Mixing with Earth’s Carbon lust.
Soon the sun will boil the oceans
Burning all life left
Cratering the dreams past and present
Leaving nothing but salt and ash and sand.
